A federal appeals court granted a hold sought by former President Donald Trump to block the National Archives from handing over documents to the Jan. 6 House committee.
The order is a victory for Trump, who sued the House and the National Archives and claimed executive privilege over more than 700 records related to the Capitol riot.
A federal judge rejected attempts by Trump earlier this week to stop the delivery of the first batch of documents, which was slated to happen on Friday, after which his team appealed.

The Thursday order from the U.S. Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia sets oral arguments to take place at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 30. The three judges on the panel who made the decision were all appointed by either former President Barack Obama or President Joe Biden.
The case is likely to make its way to the Supreme Court.
Biden’s White House has declined to support Trump’s claims of executive privilege, and in a ruling on Monday, Judge Tanya Chutkan of the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., said, “Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President.”
The records being sought by the House select committee include call logs, visitor logs, speech drafts, and memos that the panel believes may shed light on the events that led up to the Jan. 6 riot.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the committee, said on Tuesday after the court blocked the Trump camp’s request to block the release of the documents that the panel “appreciates the Court’s swift and decisive ruling on the former President’s lawsuit, which I consider little more than an attempt to delay and obstruct our investigation.”
